Why is my actual speed lower than advertised?
Advertised speeds are the maximum under ideal conditions. Real speeds depend on router quality, WiFi signal, distance from the cabinet, and network congestion. Getting 80% of advertised speed is considered good.
Should I buy or rent a modem?
Buy if you plan to stay 2+ years. Provider-rented modems cost ₱200–₱500/month. A decent personal modem costs ₱3,000–₱8,000 one-time and lasts 5+ years — saving you money long-term.
Can I switch providers mid-contract?
Most ISPs have 24-month lock-in periods. Early termination fees are typically ₱1,000–₱5,000. If a faster provider enters your area (like Converge), the fee may be worth paying.
